at Del Mar Racetrack

On August 11th, 2016 The San Diego Venture Group partnered with NextGen Partners for a day of fun, networking, and meeting with prospective companies at the races in Del Mar. For many attendees, this was the first visit to this historic track.

Prior to the event, Jeffrey prepared a detailed handicapping sheet which everyone could read and use to help them place their bets.

We decided to give as many as possible the VIP experience they deserved.  This included guided tours into the Paddock and then trackside to watch races up close.  Inside the Paddock guests in small groups listened as Jeffrey talked about the track, racing, and how the races take place.  Everyone enjoyed watching the horses come out, and the trainers conferring with the jockeys and owners.  Some even were lucky enough to meet jockeys.

After the Paddock guests moved trackside to be up close to the racing experience.

A smaller group was privy to the Money Room at Del Mar, as Mike Ernst, Del Mar’s CFO provided an informational tour.  The Money Room is where all the cash is collected, counted and then sent off. Of course, it is highly guarded and was a very exciting place to visit.

Many noteworthy companies exhibited in the room for the  San Diego Venture Group. They can be viewed here.
